Stroller stolen on A.M. June 21

Target had an adorable ad campaign for their baby strollers in Target stores. The ad said “Use your own intuition. You will never be wrong.” Who could argue with that! However, I looked deeper into this and discovered the ad was taken off of Target stores web site. And someone had tampered with the ad!

On June 8th, an unidentified person(s) broke into the home of Robert and Evelyn Gates. They were in the process of doing some last minute shopping when someone entered the home and stole items. Robert and Evelyn called the police and they were able to recover most of the stolen merchandise. However, one of the items was the baby stroller in Target that had been tampered with!

The stroller was one of the more expensive models they had. The estimated value was around sixty-five dollars. The stroller was covered with a large picture of baby. On the inside of the stroller, it read “For Sale by Target” along with various other keywords related to baby strollers.

Upon searching the internet for the owner of the stroller, a variety of web sites popped up stating they were the owner of the product. Some of them offered a reward if the rightful owner of the item(s) returned the product to Target. The offer was for a large cash reward. When the couple checked the web site of Target, they were astonished to find the ad for the baby stroller in Target had been stolen!

Someone had placed a large ad for the stroller at a very low price and then took it without giving anyone permission. They even marked it up on the price to make it appear it was discounted. When the couple tried to make contact with Target about the ad, they were told there was no such store in the city. The ad was posted online before it was taken down. The thief made copies of the ad and posted them at numerous stores in the area. Target had their ad stolen on p.m. saturday.

The security camera system in the neighborhood picked up the surveillance tapes that captured the license plate number of the vehicle in which the baby stroller was stolen. The thief’s car matched the description of the car used in the ad. Target immediately contacted the police and filed a report stating that their baby stroller was stolen on a.m. June 21st while they were at lunch. The thief is still on probation and faces charges of grand theft and failure to notify.
